Spain´s UNESCO World Heritage Cities celebrate "Noche del Patrimonio"

Marking the 25th anniversary of Spain´s World Heritage Cities group and 2018 being the European Year of Cultural Heritage, this Saturday 15 September has been declared Noche del Patrimonio or World Heritage Night all across Spain! 

The Spanish group of World Heritage Cities is made up of 15 cities, all of which have been declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. The cities are Cordoba, Ubeda, Baeza, Alcalá de Henares, Cáceres, Ávila, Cuenca, Ibiza, Mérida, Salamanca, San Cristobal de La Laguna, Santiago de Compostela, Segovia, Tarragona & Toledo.

Extended opening times and a range of cultural events and activities (including live music and dance) will be running simultaneously in all the 15 cities - allowing the visitor to experience many of the key cultural attractions at night and free of charge! Check here for more on events in all of the cities.

In CORDOBA -  all major sites open until midnight including the Mezquita (cathedral), Medina Azahara, Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, Centro Flamenco Fosforito and Museo Arqueológico. Live music (including Jazz at the Museo Arqueologico), dance and many other cultural events

In UBEDA - all the key sites open until midnight including the Sinagoga del Agua, Palacio Juan Vázquez de Molina, Sacra Capilla del Salvador, la Basílica de Santa María and Museo Arqueológico; live music and dance, olive oil tasting, star-gazing and other cultural events.

In BAEZA – all the major sites open until midnight including the Santa Iglesia Catedral, Antigua Universidad and Palacaio del Jabalquinto; plus live flamenco music and dance and 10,000 candles lighting up the old town.
